I miss playing MMO’s, but micro transactions ruin any sense of progression for me.

Any mmo’s out there that fit the bill?

Cosmetics are fine, as long as you can’t just turn around and sell said cosmetics in game.

    • GW2 you can directly trade game economy currency and premium currency on a public exchange. This mostly neuters the RMT scene for the game, something that literally every other MMORPG with trading suffers massively from. Other games have their economies ruined far harder by RMT than from p2w imo, even when both are bad.

However, there is little in the way of outright vertical progression to be had at all. Pink rarity gear only has 5% stronger stats than orange rarity gear. Orange rarity is basically free, pink can only really be earned yourself and may take you a few months. Purple gear is the same as pink but would cost you hundreds of dollars per slot and is about the prestige associated with the cosmetic skins purple comes with.

I would not call GW2 a game that has no pay2win. But as far as mainstream games go, it has one of the best models. The game’s progression is almost entirely horizontal with very little in terms of vertical power.

      • Check my other comment in this chain. Although gems are indeed a premium currency, the game almost completely lacks any sense of vertical progression. Top tier gear is 5% stronger than cheap trash gear. You get by far the most amount of power from buying the expansions to have access to all the subclasses.

Game isn’t what you’re asking for in the OP for sure, but it’s pretty fair.
