• Of course political content can be on Sopuli, there is no however specific political leaning like on lemmy.ml or (as more extreme case) lemmygrad.ml. I’d also expect that if political discussion happens here, all the users know how to behave like in a furnished space.

By the way, !meta@sopuli.xyz is for meta discussion regarding the instance. I let this discussion be in this community, but any following meta ones will be deleted.

Yes politics is only a subset of what relates to a country. I also have little interest in discussing it.

Everything is political is a gross generalisation.

I mean it’s true there’s nothing that can really be separated from politics…

I tried thinking of a best solution for you and I think your only realistic option is to subscribe only to communities you like and browse “subscribed”. Because even if you want to browse “all” you’ll still get all the politics communities on other instances. Sopuli cannot exist in a vacuum. If your intention was to browse “local” you wouldn’t have found much content on here anyway.

Have you looked at instances like beehaw? Their communities are curated by the administration, so it’s very organized and topical. They have one politics community.

  • Can you explain what you mean exactly? I recently created communities related to countries. Sopuli already had a country community (!finland@sopuli.xyz) when I joined. Politics is only a subset of what relates to a country. For example, there’s language, culture, cuisine, history, etc… There’s much for average enjoyers to appreciate, and I want us to have a good time together.

I guess the most political sub is “Geopolitics”, so I can’t argue with you there. If it bothers you, you can unsubscribe from it. I can only promise to hold the moderation to higher standards than what you saw on the raging dumpster fire that is lemmy.ml. We are aiming to keep it civil and intelligent, which I feel Sopuli admins have already demonstrate that they know how to do.

Apologies to the admins and everyone for wasting your time with the low quality hamfisted ill-concieved comment posted here. Not the usual standard. I’d love to blame lack of sleep. But no.
