And to actually answer the question, I’ve never been banned.
Yes and also no, some things reddit bans for non-social commercial reasons, like sharing piracy links and content and DMCA. Lots of Lemmy instances are still able to let that fly effortlessly.
I got banned from r/LateStageImperialism for saying “Holodomor”. I guess I can’t be anti-imperialism and anti-stalin but whatever.
I should also note that I’m an anarchist and a socialist, not a Marxist-Leninist.
Still going strong on my 15 years old account. I don’t really seek confrontation, so my comments are at most average.

Never got banned, if fact I modded a handful of small subreddits, have basically made three posts in the past 5 years. The rest is just lurking on alternate front-ends on smaller news-like feeds.

Since I’m also in the never banned club, the most controversial thing I ever said on Reddit, based entirely on community reactions, was probably “americans perceive everyone outside america as sub-humans who are beneath self-determination, like they should be the ones to choose how we do everything”.
Sounds like at least among lefties this should have been an uncontroversial statement, but gods I made some gringos mad on that day.
Hah, only controversial to me for the mass generalization of a wide group of 300 million. There are absolutely many who see it that way, although also many millions who don’t.

I got banned, but I don’t know why?
I didn’t use my account for a long time, because reddit is just bad and is only usable if you have questions to a specific topic, because a lot of people are there.
So after a while I had a specific question again and wanted to log in and a message like “Your account is temporarily blocked. If you don’t know what this means, type something in this edit field”. So I typed “I don’t know why I am banned?” into this field and after some weeks I got unbanned without even getting an email about it.
No idea why I was banned or why I was unbanned!?
Reddit and other big players are just banning people automatically. I read about some stories on Twitter and Instagram were the people didn’t know what they did wrong and got banned and they somehow lost their whole (online) existence, because for all other people you don’t exist anymore and move on. But after they survived the “shock” they say their lives are much better now.
I made a joke about punching Nazis, on a post about punching Nazis. It was later reversed. That was like, a month before this whole migration thing so it’s kind of funny to me.
