The shadow of U.S. war crimes in Iraq hangs over the Pentagon’s refusal to support probes into Russian atrocities in Ukraine.

The ICC at this point is really most useful for prosecuting war criminals in post-civil war eras in countries that have yet to establish the rule of law. It’s certainly better than some kangaroo court in a country where the judiciary is just getting off the ground after a bruising war.

No shit, this would set the precedent for prosecuting US for much greater crimes against humanity that it’s been committing for decades.
