Reading articles like this reminds me of the incredible desperation that I experienced as a child. Growing up under such intense abuse, I could not imagine surviving into my twenties nor making it out of my teens. It was so bad that I had made plans to commit suicide at the age of 13. You can read the long story here (it really isn’t that long and should take an average reader 5-10 minutes).
Something unknown reached out to me and it was enough to dig deep inside of my self in order to persevere. Please, don’t give up.
Is the mention of violence a trigger because of what you experienced in your childhood? I did not view this article as an exploration of desperation, but rather as an interview with people given a healthy outlet for their rightful anger at a system which devalues and dehumanizes them.

Part of it was the violence aspect and the other part was feeling dehumanized by my parents as a child.
