Hybrid warfare and sabotage on European soil gained renewed attention this week ​after Germany blamed Russia for an attempted drone ​attack at the Leipzig/Halle Airport, prompting European Union ⁠members to call for new sanctions against Russia.

“Russia is ​both planning and carrying out acts of sabotage ​against defense companies and the defense industry in Europe,” PET’s head of counter-espionage, Emil Gresholm, said in a statement.

The other month in our field some random team published a paper where they surveyed people sick with a chronic illness and people who had recovered from that illness. They found the recovered people had better mental health than those who were ill.

The authors in all their wisdom decided that means mental health causes the illness. It apparently didn’t cross their mind that being chronically ill is not fun so you have worse mental health and being recovered is comparatively great so you have better mental health.

Now some right wing chuds are citing this silly study to try and paint the illness as fake.

This means that technically VLC has been the furthest from the earth any human as been.

Many literal scientists assume the correlations they find are causative without much thought. Definitely a pervasive problem the assumption of correlations as causations.

Fucking hell. What I find so bleak is that Israel’s civil society is so muted. Say what you will about the shitshow of the US but there would be tangible outrage by prominent voices if something like this was said in 2026 about say indigenous americans or greenland or whatever.
