12·3 days agoI have massive respect for the guy. He did so much for the open source community. But for some reason everything he says is interpreted as inarguable truth by most tech guys.
For example his opinions on AI are pure trash and bootlickery. Which is fine anyone can think anything. We just have to think for ourselves a little.

Atleast C is easy to understand which makes it easier to find and fix vulnerabilities. C++ feels like it’s duct tape holding it together.

There aren’t any good text editors in the wild. VSCode is awful apart from extension support. Kate is close to being perfect but lack of extensions are pulling it back. Vim, Helix, Emacs, NeoVim are all flex toys.nvm just tried zed with AI disabled -

1·8 days agoWe talked to our supposed advisor today and he told us we should add more image processing or deep learning shit because our current project is an EEE project and not a Computer Engineering project. He also said he might give us an F if we present this.
I’m speechless. I wish I have studied this field 10 years ago man…
Idgf though I’m doing this.
I would but ever since the AI boom every single professor at my unis computer engineering department has gone full slop. They only work on AI projects and use LLMs frequently. I feel like I’m on my own with this lol.
I might try the EEE department though.

7·19 days agoAnother worthless AI slop app. “Open source” yeah by using a tool that stole the works of actual open source developers.
Tuta mail is amazing. Their calendar sucks but mail service is pretty good. I’ve been using both proton and tuta but I guess I will just use tuta from now on.
