Hey dude, how much does the CIA pay you? Do you think you could get me a job there or they only hire white first world fascists like you?

IMO if you’re starting with your project is understandable, they seem to have a shit ton of money put on it, thought, so that may make it a bit unforgivable, but things can change.

Yeah, the Web3 shit is a bit fishy but maybe they are doing it because it attracks customers, the IPFS thing is a nice addition although the MetaMask shit is not, ultimately, if they provide a good and free e-mail service and the rest does not interfere I am good with it though.

Regarding the PDF thing I think that is optional for inputting it, since I was able to copy the code to my password manager.

Is this a bittorrent client or for a tracker web site?

I think he could be at a gymnasium so he could be winning and losing against himself in order to level up a lot of accounts, or maybe there was an event for a rare pokémon and he could have it on different accounts and sell the account or pokémon or something.

Looks amazing, I have doubts how they are going to handle killing NPCs, though, since the films were so “if we kill the others we are like the badies” like, but here there were some times when it’s hard to believe an enemy could resist those attacks and not die.

I hope they do, anything that makes the Windows experience shittier is a win for Linux somewhere.

Nice and mature response, a lot better than shitty Linus’s video.

The rules hope to stop Chinese apps’ excessive use of the tools and control what content gets shared in the notifications. > > > >Why it matters: Chinese tech companies widely use notifications and pop-ups to promote their services. New rules curtailing their use could hurt service providers such as Baidu, Tencent, and Meituan, which rely on such methods to promote their products and generate profit from advertisements.

I think that if the person conducting the interview would have human decency the result would have been much more different. Sure, that dude did it horribly, but he’s a person trying to do the best he can as everybody else while managing a shitty job, he didn’t receive professional training on how to take one and that’s fine, but the interviewer didn’t let him speak, interrupted him and all the questions were done on purpose to control the narrative, and I’m sure it was all planned like that. If it would have been a real interview there would have been questions, answers and a debate, here we only saw an upper class white cis heterosexual man saying “heuuhh ehuhe look at me im got moneis heheheh fuck you hehehe.”

Someone please shoot that Fox news bastard in the knees and balls

Pokémon Uranium - a fan-made Pokémon game

So the mature answer the mod gives to a person that has been participating in good faith in the community is to fuck off and become an anarchist if you want to stay there?

Por suerte no es la democracia liberal de mierda que seguro querés vos, jaja.

Good if you want to prevent attacks, bad if you’re the one abusing the vulnerabilities, though.

Don’t know if you know about https://the-apothecary.club/ but it is an instance that works like that and has quite a lot of rooms, last time I checked it wasn’t so active but it had quite a few people. Still, I’m not saying it to delete yours, just to let you know.

yeah cool shit and all but basically im watching a bougie who has all the money in the world to do all the shit he wants, so yeah cool technology but its locked up for rich folks

A good routine if you don’t have any equipment is to do some push-ups (you can do different types of push ups), do some push ups (also do different types), and some squats. If you manage to make a 100 of each that should get you in moderate shape IMO, maybe if you have fat in a specific part of the body and you want to get rid of that you should do some specific exercise in that area, but I think that’s a workout plan that does not require that much time. Also don’t try to do 100 push ups one after the other, you should try and do 10, then 20, and so on, and doing everything slowly is better than doing it fast.

The zapatistas live almost in a rural society except they have electricity and some internet connection, they are not suppressed because they live like that and don’t represent a real threat, if they ever were to industrialize they would get fucked up in less than the blink of an eye. While I appreciate their fight and resistance and would take their government any day over the current one dominating Mexico, I don’t think they’re a super example since (even though things have improved in their government in comparison to capitalist one) they still have vast numbers of people living under poverty, and they’re going to keep it that way because they lack the organization and resources to improve it.

TBH Gab looks pretty nice in the UI department, I really like it if it not were full of nazis.

It’s the same concept, Letterboxd is not the only one doing it, there’s also Film Affinity (which IMO is better since it doesn’t make this stupid distinction between films, TV shows, shorts, and so on, which Letterbox does), but yeah.

No, there isn’t it’s probably one of the things I need the most. There’s BookWyrm which is a replace for something very similar but for books, and there’s also another website for anime manga which is called Kitsu. I would love to grab the source code of one of these and modify the variables to adapt it for cinema, but I am too stupid to do that

cHINaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAA VAAAAAAAAAAATHHHHHHHHHHHHDDD

I never mentioned any capitalist structure, jobs that exist merely to support a speculative bourgeoisie dictatorship should be abolished

Well, automation involves robotization, too, and while there may be waste produced by the creation to them, it’s worth noting that if you invest in scientific research to find the most effective way to live while applying these measures a green path can be find.

That phrase is marxist, though, not anarchist, or at the bare minimum it’s communist.

Automatizing every job that’s stupid ass balls shit where you are alienated all day every day and it could be replaced by a machine without too much change. Science and stuff can be done by hoomans, still, although it can also be automatized and the line between human and machine will become more blur. IMO that can only be achieved in China (maybe Vietnam in a couple more years), the US is super fucked up and it’s not the place to begin any fucking shitty nothing of a leftist movement.

disgusting, this person is thanking for someone shitting on their mouth, fucking first world fuckers

Hey, thanks a lot! I managed to installed it and it works, I think it still lacks some features but it looks really promising, please keep working on it and thanks a lot for you hard work! uWu

Is there an installation guide for stupid people like me?

I remember that on Reddit people were trashing the developer for being Chinese, lol.

Best looking and most minimalist text editor?
So I've been trying to find a text editor that's blazing fast with as little features as possible that doesn't look like it was designed in the '90s. I would like something that when I click on my files it opens almost instantly and only displays text in a notepad without any buttons tools, or just the bare minimum (like create a new file or something like that). I want this to read .txt files and that's it, if I'm working on a writing I'd use LibreOffice and if I'm writing some code I'd use Atom.

Yay, another place where we can spread Western propaganda against non-Western nations!

Setting the precedent

Let’s say that regardless of the copious reasons why this is a bad idea, we still decide that the trade-offs are worth it and we pressure phone and app makers to introduce a backdoor into their products. Soon, other countries will want this level of access too. If you’re an anglophonic person, you may be okay with the notion of Western nations having access to those tools but once again the question is where we draw the line. Should we give access to this backdoor to Turkey, who has historically been a reliable Western ally but has recently taken interest in oppressing the very Kurds that Unites States supported in the fight against w:Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant? Do we give it to China to spy on Uyghur Muslims and place them in w:Xinjiang detention camps? Parties like China already heavily control and often outright ban Western companies’ operations in China, refusal to share this access would be the end of their China operations.

How confident are we that your average tech CEO focused on the next quarterly report would have the moral fortitude to stand up to China?

The wiki has barely any articles and yet we already have shit taken against the East as if Western countries would have the slightest degree of freedom or humanity.

If you’re an anglophonic person, you may be okay with the notion of Western nations having access to those tools but once again the question is where we draw the line.

This sentence in particular is fucking ridiculous and so anglocentrist it makes me puke.

I’m okay with fair criticism about China particularly when it comes to privacy, but this shit seems like a place to spread Western culture as the highest stage of civilization and regard everything else as Orwellian monoliths even though anglophonic nations and their allies have the biggest surveillance system. I like the idea of the wiki, but I know how it will end.

I am not showing any personal political opinion on this post, I just wanted to show this for informational purposes. ---- **Main takeaways:** * Broad Amnesty for everyone. * Women to be allowed to work and educate "within the framework of Sharia Law". * Production of Narcotics / Heroin will be completely stopped as it was in 2001, asking for aid in replacement crops. * New Government promised to be "inclusive" (see bottom of post). * Guarantees of no attacks from Afghan soil & safety for embassies of all nations, incl. US. * Insistence on self determination. * Focus on economic reconstruction and infrastructure. * Media "can say nothing against Islam" and must "adhere to ismlamic values" but otherwise independent. ---- **Amnesty for everyone** We have pardoned anyone, all those who had fought against us. We don’t want to repeat any conflict anymore again. We want to do away with the factors for conflict. Therefore, the Islamic Emirate does not have any kind of hostility or animosity with anybody; animosities have come to an end and we would like to live peacefully. We don’t want any internal enemies and any external enemies. **Guarantee of security of all embassies of all nations, including US** First, we would like to assure that the areas where there are embassies, there will be complete security. Therefore all foreign countries and your representatives, your embassies, your missions, international organizations, aid agencies, I would like to assure you that we will not allow anybody to do anything against you. **Guarantees that no one will "be harmed in any way from our soil"** In the same way, when it comes to the kind of circumstances I would like to ensure, I would like to assure the international community, including the United States that nobody will be a harmed in Afghanistan. I would like to assure our neighbours, regional countries, we are not going to allow our territory to be used against anybody, any country in the world. So the whole global community should be assured that we are committed to these pledges that you will not be harmed in any way from our soil. **Insistence on self determination** We would also like to request the international community that we then recognise international boundaries and interactions. We should be treated accordingly. According to this framework, we do not want to have any problem with the international community, we’d like to act on the basis of our principles of our religion, of our culture, [...] **Women promised same rights as men in areas of education, health and others, but within framework of Sharia law** The issue of women is very important. The Islamic Emirate is committed to the rights of women within the framework of Sharia. Our sisters, our men have the same rights; they will be able to benefit from their rights. They can have activities in different sectors and different areas on the basis of our rules and regulations: educational, health and other areas. They are going to be working with us, shoulder to shoulder with us. The international community, if they have concerns, we would like to assure them that there’s not going to be any discrimination against women, but of course within the frameworks that we have. Our women are Muslim. They will also be happy to be living within our frameworks of Sharia. When it comes to women, of course, they will be able to work within the frameworks of our Islamic laws for example in education, in health, in prosecution. Of course, women are needed, they are going to be able be working. **Economic reconstruction and Infrastructure** We hope that as soon as conflict has done away with Afghanistan, we are going to build infrastructures of the economy. For this we are going to take actions for economic activities. The interactions with the international community, with other countries are going to continue. We are going to be working on our natural resources and our resources in order to revitalize our economy, for our reconstruction, for our prosperity. **Media must adhere to "islamic values" and nothing cant be said against Islam** Islam is a very important value in our country and nothing should be against Islamic values. When it comes to the activities of the media therefore, Islamic values should be taken into account when it comes to the activities of the media, when it comes to developing your programmes. Therefore, the media should be impartial. Impartiality of the media is very important. They can critique our work, so that we can improve. **Safety for Interpreters who worked with/for the US** I would like to assure all the compatriots, whether they were translators, whether they were with military activities or whether they were civilians, all of them have been important. Nobody is going to be treated with revenge. Both youth who have talents, who have grown up here, who are from this country, we don’t want them to leave. These are our assets, we would like them to stay here, to serve. **Control of weapons smuggling** We have all the borders under our control. There is not going to be any case of smuggling of weapons. All the weapons that are being used in fighting are going to be corrected and completed and registered **On Heroin / Narcotics production** We are assuring our countrymen and women and the international community, we will not have produce any narcotics. In 2001, if you remember, we had brought narcotics content production to zero in 2001, but our country was unfortunately occupied by then and the way was paved for reproduction of narcotics even at the level of the government – everybody was involved. [...]From now on, Afghanistan will be a narcotics-free country but it needs international assistance. The international community should help us so that we can have alternative crops. We can provide alternative crops. Then, of course, very soon, we can bring it to an end. **On the new Islamic government "It will be inclusive"** The question is whether you’re in touch with Dr Abdullah, Hekmatyar and Hamid Karzai. Let’s just say, that very soon we will be witnessing the formation of the government, announcing the government. We will do our most to make sure that we are in touch with all sides, with Dr Abdullah, with others, we have been communicating with them. We’re continuing our communication with them we will do our most to make sure that all Afghans are included. Nobody should be left out, or any anybody with interests to serve the nation, they’re not going to be ignored. So the future government will be inclusive.

Yeah, the same happens here, for example instead of “mercadotecnia” we say “marketing”, instread of “transmision” we say “streaming”, and so on and so fucking on. It’ fucking depressing and shitty.

And yeah, your English is okay, I’d recommend you DeepL for a translator, it works almost flawlessly.

Weird, here almost no one says americanos to refer to Usonians, we mostly say yanqui or estadounidense, but I’ve heard people use it even though it is grammatically incorrect in Spanish. English imperialism is strong and it likes killing language biodiversity.

Fair, I too use that or yanqui but those are pejorative words, whereas Usonian is neutral.

Can we have a rule that prevents using the word “American/s” to refer to Usonians?
I understand some people may not even realize it's a word that puts yankees before all the rest of America, or that English didn't have a better word like Spanish (Estadounidense) and other languages do, but I feel that since this is a pretty big community and one where the word will be out there a lot could be an opportunity to help spread a better word that does not minimizes a lot of oppressed people.

I always kind of hate the lack of imagination for the libre software community to name projects, it’s always LibreSomething, FlossThis, OpenThat, and so on.

How is it hard to find them, though? If you look by ISBN you have a unique and precise ID to search for them, the only case where this could not help is if the book is a bit niche and does not show up on Amazon but on some more local place, probably where it was edited.

Which websites should we link to?
pin
Recently there was kind of a discussion, with one user being a bit mean towards the other regarding the latter posting a link to Amazon. While I do not agree with how they brought the discussion, I think it would be great to read everyone's opinion about what should be link, and if linking to specific websites should be forbidden. For example, we have Open Library, BookWyrm, Inventaire, etc, if you only want to link to a book's information, and while it is harder to find a replacement to a web site where you can buy books, users can always search for it if they want. What are your thoughts?

***This is a [Reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/nc27fv/rescue_mission_for_scihub_and_open_science_we_are/), not my own work.*** ---- **Rescue Mission Links** * Quick start to rescuing Sci-Hub: Download 1 random torrent (100GB) from the [scimag collection](http://libgen.rs/scimag/repository_torrent/) and download it. Seed forever. * [Mission Success Tracker](https://phillm.net/libgen-stats-table.php), thanks to phillm * Contribute to open source Sci-Hub projects: [freereadorg/awesome-libgen](https://github.com/freereadorg/awesome-libgen) * Join /r/scihub to stay up to date # A Rescue Mission for Sci-Hub and Open Science Elsevier and the USDOJ have declared war against Sci-Hub and open science. The era of Sci-Hub and Alexandra standing alone in this fight must end. We have to take a stand with her. On May 7th, Sci-Hub's Alexandra Elbakyan [revealed](https://twitter.com/ringo_ring/status/1390782451140767749) that the FBI has been wiretapping her accounts for over 2 years. This news comes after Twitter [silenced the official Sci\_Hub](https://www.theverge.com/2021/1/8/22220738/twitter-sci-hub-suspended-indian-court-case) twitter account because Indian academics were organizing on it against Elsevier. Sci-Hub itself is currently frozen and has not downloaded any new articles since December 2020. This rescue mission is focused on seeding the article collection in order to prepare for a potential Sci-Hub shutdown. [Alexandra Elbakyan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandra_Elbakyan) of Sci-Hub, bookwarrior of [Library Genesis](https://libgen.fun/), [Aaron Swartz](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Swartz), and countless unnamed others have fought to free science from the grips of for-profit publishers. Today, they do it working in hiding, alone, without acknowledgment, in fear of imprisonment, and even now wiretapped by the FBI. They sacrifice everything for one vision: Open Science. Why do they do it? They do it so that humble scholars on the other side of the planet can practice medicine, create science, fight for democracy, teach, and learn. People like Alexandra Elbakyan would give up their personal freedom for that one goal: to free knowledge. For that, Elsevier Corp (RELX, market cap: 50 billion) wants to silence her, wants to see her in prison, and wants to shut Sci-Hub down. It's time we sent Elsevier and the USDOJ a clearer message about the fate of Sci-Hub and open science: we are the library, we do not get silenced, we do not shut down our computers, and we are many. # Rescue Mission for Sci-Hub If you have been following the story, then you know that this is not our first rescue mission. * [We protected the Library Genesis book collection](https://www.vice.com/en/article/pa7jxb/archivists-are-trying-to-make-sure-a-pirate-bay-of-science-never-goes-down) * [We unlocked over 5,000 COVID-19 research articles](https://www.vice.com/en/article/z3b3v5/archivists-are-bypassing-paywalls-to-share-studies-about-coronaviruses) * [We successfully petitioned publishers to unlock their COVID-19 paywalls](https://www.reddit.com/r/Coronavirus/comments/feo68j/humanity_wins_our_fight_to_unlock_32544_covid19/) * bookwarrior, the *founder* of Library Genesis, took his library [onto the de-centralized and un-censorable IPFS web](http://libgen.fun/) * Next? Make Sci-Hub un-censorable too. # Rescue Target A handful of Library Genesis seeders are currently seeding the Sci-Hub torrents. There are [850 scihub torrents](http://libgen.rs/scimag/repository_torrent/), each containing 100,000 scientific articles, to a total of 85 million scientific articles: 77TB. This is the complete Sci-Hub database. We need to protect this. # Rescue Team **Wave 1:** We need **85 datahoarders** to store and seed 1TB of articles each, 10 torrents in total. Download 10 [random](https://www.random.org/integers/?num=10&min=100&max=850&col=1&base=10&format=html&rnd=new) torrents from the [scimag collection](http://libgen.rs/scimag/repository_torrent/), then load the torrents onto your client and seed for as long as you can. The articles are coded by DOI and in zip files. **Wave 2:** Reach out to **10 good friends** to ask them to grab just 1 random torrent (100GB). That's 8,500 seeders. We are now the library. **Final Wave:** Development for an open source Sci-Hub. [freereadorg/awesome-libgen](https://github.com/freereadorg/awesome-libgen) is a collection of open source achievements based on the Sci-Hub and Library Genesis databases. Open source de-centralization of Sci-Hub is the ultimate goal here, and this begins with the data, but it is going to take years of developer sweat to carry these libraries into the future. Heartfelt thanks to the /r/datahoarder and /r/seedboxes communities, [seedbox.io](https://seedbox.io/) and [NFOrce](https://www.nforce.com/) for your support for previous missions and your love for science.

Help with Jellyfin server
So I was able to install everything correctly, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do in order for people that don't have my same IP to see my files. I'd like to share my Jellyfin server with some friends so they can see movies there. I've already open the ports, but they can't still access them, I'm using elementaryOS Hera which is built on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS.

List of libre software I would love to exist
##### Disclaimer: I know that being a developer is hard, I'm not trying to say that people should start doing these ideas to please my desires. I just thought it was fun to have a list of ideas that could improve the libre software community and these are some of them that I would really love to see. If you have some other Ideas contribute as well, and if you are a developer and you are looking for something to do but don't know what, you may gain some inspiration from here. ---- **Projects that do not exist:** - Libre and privacy respecting alternative to DeepL. *Details: I know there are already some libre translators, but I will not stop using DeepL until there's something as good as it.* - Libre and privacy respecting alternative to [Genius](https://genius.com/). *Details: It's a website where users create community based lyrics for their favourite artists and can create annotations and add metadata.* - ~~Libre and privacy respecting alternative to Goodreads. *Details: It's a website where you keep a log of what you've read, what you want to read and what you are reading, you can also rate books.*~~ [Here](https://github.com/mouse-reeve/bookwyrm) is an alternative. - Libre and privacy respecting alternative to Grammarly. *Details: It's a set of applications or add-ons that help you with typos and it will improve your text.* - Libre and privacy respecting alternative to Letterboxd. *Details: t's a website where you keep a log of what you've seen and what you want to see, you can also rate movies and TV shows.* - Libre and privacy respecting alternative to Pixabay. *Details: It's a website where you can get images to use without copyright restrictions. I know CC has a website for this but their content is really poor.* - ~~Libre and privacy respecting alternative to Push notifications.~~ [Here](https://github.com/gotify) is an alternative. - Libre and privacy respecting alternative to ReCaptcha. - Libre and privacy respecting alternative to Shazam. *Details: It's an application that tells you what you are listening if you let it listen to it* - Libre and privacy respecting alternative to Unsplash. *Details: It's a website where you can upload and use photos of people that are licensed under a license that allows for use under most circumstances for free.* - Libre and privacy respecting mouse gesture and ~~radial menu~~ to an operative system level. *Similar to [Gesturefy](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/gesturefy/) and ~~[CompassMenu](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/compass_menu)~~ but in a way that it can work in any application. Look [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AItTqnTsVjA) video for more details since this is probably a really deep and hard to explain topic. [Here](https://github.com/Schneegans/Fly-Pie/) is an alternative for the radial menu. - Libre and privacy respecting website where to upload and download 3D models licensed under a CC. - Libre and privacy respecting website where to play a lot of different card games. *Details: Similar to Lichess. I am satisfied if you only can play poker until it gains some traction.* - Fully libre and privacy respecting alternative to [Xayn](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xayn.search&hl=en_US&gl=US). *Details: It's an application that recommends you articles based on the input you give to the algorithm. Some of its [code](https://github.com/xaynetwork/xaynet) it's liberated on GitHub, but not all of it.* - Libre , decentralized and privacy respecting alternative to Imgur. *Details: It would be great if this could work along the fediverse, for example people would host images there instead of here on Lemmy or Mastodon, making these platforms much more lightweight.* - Libre, privacy respecting and not self hostable visual bookmark manager. *Details: There are a few alternatives here and there, maybe, but they are really awful looking and generally you need to self host. I don't know how to self host and it would probably make my machine slower, I would prefer something that someone's alreay hosting. [This](https://github.com/Colllect/Colllect) is exactly like what I'm looking for, but they haven't launched it yet since they don have enough resources, it could die, too, maybe. ---- **Projects that exist but have some issues:** - A set of common android apps. *Details: I know there are a are a lot of basic Android applications to replace the default ones that come with your phone but I feel someone should create a set that align the aesthetics of them to be coherent with each other. I know Tibor Kaputa does this, but in my opinion I would like something that looks a bit more modern and that has more features, since theirs are based around minimalism. For example, the camera application does not have as many options as my default one, etc.* - Libre, privacy respecting, aesthetic and functional map application. *Details: I haven't been able to find a working application to see maps, I generally end up using DDG's in browser map because of this. The only one that worked was one calle Maps which was a fork of a really [good one](https://github.com/mapsme/omim) (but it was filled with proprietary and other [shady stuff](https://github.com/mapsme/omim/issues/85) ) but it stopped working after some time. I mention the aesthetic parts because I want to be able to recommend this to people who wouldn't use it otherwise if it looks like something really "primitive".* - Revive [waifu2x](https://github.com/nagadomi/waifu2x/) as a serious project. *Details: I really love this website, but I really hate the whole idea of the waifu thing, it is misogynous and I feel like unprofessional.* - Libre, privacy respecting and highly customizable home launcher. *Details: I know there are a ton of home launchers for Android, but most of them focus on minimalism or simplicity, I don't want that, I want a super customizable full of features application that can let me do almost anything. The closest to this was [Lawnchair](https://github.com/LawnchairLauncher/Lawnchair) which is dead, luckily [Omega](https://github.com/otakuhqz/Omega) launcher exists now and it looks like it'll be able to achieve this, but it's not there yet.* - Revive [AquaDroid](https://github.com/z3r0c00l-2k/AquaDroid) *Details: It is a really beautiful application but it has some bugs, not so many features and development has halted.*
