the video on the official site shows off its quite useless magnetic back, suggesting this is so you can stick it to the back of your phone? it shows a model cheerfully scrolling the internet, flipping the phone round to read, flipping back etc. i can hardly imagine a more frivolous use case, but crosspoint allows you to set custom lockscreens so you could use it for a fridge magnet if you really wanted. it only likes bitmaps, there are various online converters available, i used https://crosspoint-pxc-converter.pages.dev/

mine came with some sticky metal rings so i can attach the device to any surface i so choose. i have not so far elected to do so

an actually useful thing in crosspoint is the button remapping, if you notice in the OP photo his thumb is right by the power button, not the page turn button - you can set a short press of the power button to be next page

it doesn’t apply to everyone but i think a very common need that people have is to feel settled. it may manifest in different ways from having some deep connection to the land to just wanting not to worry about moving again (and again). RV, caravan, houseboat type living will suit many but ultimately relies on other owners of facilities to provide parking, charging, waste disposal etc. it’s fun and cheap and adventurous but for many or most can’t be forever

here’s a somewhat pointless comment since i haven’t seen the film. i bought a magazine around the turn of century because it had a compilation CD on the cover, one of the songs on it was Piss on your Grave by The Coup. at the time my exposure to hip hop was limited to whatever had reached the mainstream in the UK, gangsta rap bullshit, money guns hoes and what have you. but here was something genuinely funny clever and funky. listened to some more via napster etc, a bit specifically american but very nice, and new to me. the general theme was we are skint and we’re plotting a revolution. appealing + relatable stuff, sounds great too. anyway after a while i forgot about it, then some time later i saw Sorry to Bother You and it’s one of the most original, inventive films for a while and although i probably didn’t totally get it it’s clear that this guy has something to say, and it turned out it’s the same communist rapper from all that time ago. i’ll be watching I Love Boosters and i expect it’ll be great.
