Removed Comment Yes, that's why I'm encouraging people to actively organize. Posting some image macro in support of boycotting on social media isn't organizing, that's slacktivism. Join a union. by bearboiblake [he/him] ( bearboiblake@pawb.social )

Removed Comment > This is why we don’t gatekeep resistance. Maybe you don't, but I do. I'd prefer someone do something slightly effective vs something that has _NO EFFECT_. If your point is, well, let's let people do something that doesn't help because it might turn into them doing something effective one day, I think you might be overly optimistic. Once people get that tiny dopamine hit from a one-day boycott, or post about it on Facebook how they are boycotting the gas station for one day, they get a bit of recognition and 99% will stop right there. Get rid of ineffective one-day boycotts and replace them with some direct action that actually does something. The alternative to ineffective boycotts doesn't have to be NOTHING! There's plenty people can do to resist that's actually impactful. by yarr ( yarr@feddit.nl )

Removed Comment These protests aren't actually going to do a damn thing. The only course of action is obvious but I'm not going to say what it is because I don't want to get banned. by ThePiedPooper ( ThePiedPooper@discuss.online )

Removed Comment Yeah I was fully aware of the sarcasm don't get me wrong, and I also generally agree with you that change is usually slow and expecting some sort of a revolution immediately is just a delusion. My point was that this kind of activism won't achieve any change, neither fast nor slow. It's the kind of activism that produces no impact, no matter how insignificant, towards outsiders oblivious to the protests or the stores. It's precisely the kind of activism thumb-twiddlers would do to make themselves feel good - no or very little action required on their part (like shifting schedule a little), yet them still having an illusion that they're making a change while in reality it's a slightly more active version of "changing a profile picture and typing out a few hashtags". 50501 movement won't make a difference with the protest alone, yet it's still going to be much more effective as it at least puts a public spotlight on itself, paving the way for future protests with increased support or even escalations. Sitting at home and not buying stuff that day won't ever achieve anything close to this (or anything, really). by Commiunism ( Commiunism@beehaw.org )

Removed Comment what a bizarre suggestion. That's not a way to resist anything. No one will care. If you want to resist, please do so, but don't pretend to resist when you don't do anything of any significance. by e$tGyr#J2pqM8v ( 96VXb9ktTjFnRi@feddit.nl )
