Australia and New Zealand have pledged to create a “seamless” military, including potentially jointly acquiring weapons and creating teams as the Anzac partners bind themselves together in the face of rising anxiety over Chinese influence in the Pacific.

Australian officials will also be dispatched to Wellington for briefings on AUKUS, with a view to bringing New Zealand into the non-nuclear submarine military technology part of the pact.
