luciole (he/him) ( @luciole@beehaw.org ) 65•8 months agoThis image is generative AI drivel.
elDalvini ( @elDalvini@discuss.tchncs.de ) 24•8 months agoDo you expect every meme to be meticulously handcrafted? It’s a stupid joke, not a work of art.
Ephera ( @Ephera@lemmy.ml ) 26•8 months agoPersonally, I just find it annoying, because it’s not immediately recognizable as such, especially with this old picture look. Having someone else comment that it’s horseshit is certainly appreciated, so I don’t have to spend the time finding out whether it’s garbage or not.
As soon as I saw it on Facebook I didn’t even look closely before deciding it wasn’t a sheet folding machine.
Regardless of the crazy dimensions for such a task, I doubt the start of the industrial revolution would be automating this of all things.
Also: “3 sheets per hour”.
Also: Posted in “Jokes & Humour”.
Ephera ( @Ephera@lemmy.ml ) 5•7 months agoYeah, I did figure out that it’s not a sheet folding machine pretty quickly. But I thought, it might have been a loom or something. Humanity has certainly built some big looms.
Fair enough but it is not the responsibility of the joker to satisfy your tangential curiosity.
I do appreciate that you are not saying it is. You are merely making whimsical conversation, but the number of upvotes you are getting look like desperately eager anti-AI cultists jumping on board.

key ( @key@lemmy.keychat.org ) English16•8 months agoI only consume artisanal, organic, whole-grain memes thank you very much.
luciole (he/him) ( @luciole@beehaw.org ) 13•8 months agoOf course not. I expect and enjoy them quite visually shoddy, with plenty of lazy editing and jpeg artifacts.
On the other hand, I oppose generative IA from an ethical standpoint and this kills the joke for me. I’ll preemptively say I don’t want to have an in depth debate about this again, so I’ll just kindly ask to anyone genuinely interested about what’s wrong with generative AI to look into it on their own.
lud ( @lud@lemm.ee ) 6•8 months agoWhy don’t you just scroll past it next time.
Kedly ( @Kedly@lemm.ee ) 1•7 months agoLmao, no worries about having to finish a discussion you yourself started, I’ll just block you instead
stoy ( @stoy@lemmy.zip ) 5•8 months agoRemember that unless a joke originates in the meme board on 4chan you have to call it a “standardized joke template”
This is as it was written in the Book of the Internet, WWW 78:15.
The Elders of the Internet takes this matter very seriously
tacosanonymous ( @tacosanonymous@lemm.ee ) 4•8 months agoA sparkling joke, if you must.
millie ( @millie@beehaw.org ) English2•7 months agoIt’s a joke? Did it make you laugh? Why is it funny?
Because I just see AI spam.
weew ( @weew@lemmy.ca ) 1•7 months agoThe joke is that folding a fitted sheet is hard.
What I see is a whole lot of wooooosh

AVincentInSpace ( @AVincentInSpace@pawb.social ) English2•7 months agoI was just going to point out that one of the guys in the lower left has his butt intersecting a table but that’s also a good point
Jimmycrackcrack ( @Jimmycrackcrack@lemmy.ml ) 2•7 months agoWell there you go, completely authentic poor workplace safety even in the middle of the photo being taken someone has somehow been permanently fused into a table.
ArcaneSlime ( @ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 2•7 months agoI call into question the safety of them low ass rails.

How do we know this one word comment is not itself “AI drivel”?
x4740N ( @x4740N@lemm.ee ) 3•7 months agoBecause its not

Ephera ( @Ephera@lemmy.ml ) 10•8 months agoA tip I read a while ago:
- Lay the fitted sheet upside down on your bed.
- Make sure all the stretchy stuff lies on top of the fitted sheet. You don’t want it hanging off the side.
- Put your hands under the stretchy stuff and push out all four corners, so you’ve got a nice rectangle.
- Take two of the corners and fold them onto the other two corners.
Now all the stretchy stuff should be neatly contained in the fitted sheet and you can just continue folding until it has the size you want.
