I feel like I didn’t get this experience because most of the parties I went to were hosted by dudes in bands, so when the guy(s) who played guitar played guitar, they fucking rocked it along with the guy(s) that played drums and the guy(s) that played bass.
I stayed at a Youth Hostel at Mission Beach , Queensland, Australia where good looking Swedish guy would play guitar around the communal campfire every night. He played wrong chords of Beatles songs (and I don’t mean Cm instead of Cm7, I mean completely wrong) but sang along correctly.
He would get laid by tone deaf girls almost everynight. One night the arsehole brought one into our small dorm (a pair of bunk beds). I heard squeaking and thought maybe he was wanking.
The guy sharing the other level of his bunk bed told him off for fucking a girl and waking him up. Fair enough.
It was only about a fortnite later, when he departed, that I found out everyone hated him (except for the impressionable girls), and not just for the guitaring.
