jol ( @jol@discuss.tchncs.de ) 3•21 days agoAnd central America. If it said “Latin America” instead, it would be correct.
Viking_Hippie ( @Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 4•21 days agoCentral America is officially a part of North America, though, as is the Caribbean. Otherwise, North America would consist of only two or three countries, depending on how you classify Mexico 🤷
jol ( @jol@discuss.tchncs.de ) 4•21 days agoActually I thought NA was just 3 countries (or 4 if you count Greenland).
But also, continents are a social construct. America is one continent, is 2 continents, is 3 continents.
Viking_Hippie ( @Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 4•21 days agoCareful, now, you’re heading towards a Pangaea Reunification campaign! 😁
jol ( @jol@discuss.tchncs.de ) 3•21 days agoNo thanks. I’m pro-antlantic-separatism.

Aidenwill ( @Aidenwill@jlai.lu ) 2•21 days agoU.S.A. and Canada are born from Spanish, French and British colonisation, Britain is a French colony, therefore, they are also part of Latin America !

unexposedhazard ( @unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de ) 3•21 days agoI dont think i want meat from most countries in those regions. Food safety regulations are not made equal everywhere. I wouldnt want any from the US either
Viking_Hippie ( @Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 5•21 days agoI don’t know about their regulations, but countries like Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, and Japan are famously exporters of some of the most sought after meat in the world…
unexposedhazard ( @unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de ) 1•21 days agoYeah thats why i said “most” not “all”. Those are like 10% of the countries in those regions or less.
ShinkanTrain ( @ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml ) English2•21 days agoThey’re also where the majority of the exported meat from those places comes from, so you can see how it could be easily interpreted as including those countries.
(This isn’t meant to sound dickish if it comes across that way, just explaining the thought process)

Perhapsjustsniffit ( @Perhapsjustsniffit@lemmy.ca ) 6•21 days agoI went grocery shopping yesterday here in Canada. The store is awesome. Shelves full of American products not touched. I needed broccoli for example. The cheapest broccoli was American. The area was heaped high with fresh green broccoli. Not one touched from the morning produce stock at noon. The only other option was broccoli from Guatemala. It was completely sold out. All gone. The produce guy says it flew off the shelves but don’t buy that other stuff. It’s American.
Match!! ( @match@pawb.social ) English2•21 days agogod, next you’re gonna tell me your grocery stores have eggs in stock 😭
Perhapsjustsniffit ( @Perhapsjustsniffit@lemmy.ca ) 5•21 days agoThey do. But I don’t buy them because I have chickens. There’s an article in Canadian news today that illegal fentanyl crossing the border has dropped by 34% but illegal eggs crossing is up by 116%. That’s from Canada to the US. I have chickens and a boat and ancestors who were rum runners. Perhaps an egg business is in order. 😂
