What is your all-time favorite from the Discworld novels (by the famous Terry Pratchett) ?
Greetings Peter
fax ( @fax@sffa.community ) 3•2 years agoI really enjoyed Men at Arms and Jingo and Night Watch were also good. Basically I love the Watch subseries.
ookla_the_mok ( @ookla_the_mok@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoToss up between Going Postal and Snuff…
DarthVi ( @DarthVi@lemmy.ml ) 1•2 years agoI just started this series this year by picking up Going Postal, which I finished something like a month ago. I liked it a lot and as my “gateway drug” into the Discworld, I think I will always have good memories of it.
owl ( @owl@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoMaking Money l think, or the Wee Free Men. So far.
alex [they/them] ( @alex@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoI’m surprised that there’s so little Discworld conversation here!
I’m not fully done reading all of them, but I think my fave might have been Mort. In general, the Death books are my favourite and very closely followed by the Watch books!
quasar ( @quasar@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoI still think Small Gods might be mine.
gac11 ( @gac11@lemmy.ml ) 1•2 years agoThis may be a dumb question, but if I want to try to dip my feet in to the series, is it best to read in chronological order or some other order? I haven’t started yet, but it’s on my list.
I don’t think you need a particular order.
Bebo ( @Bebo@reddthat.com ) 1•2 years agoI love the whole discworld series. But if I had to pick a specific favourite I would pick Small Gods.
im_new_here ( @im_new_here@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) 0•2 years agoI have only read the first book so far but enjoyed it. I have a stack of books I want to get through and then I’ll dive into more of the series. Any books I should be looking forward to, any I should skip?
br3d ( @br3d@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) 1•2 years agoThe first couple are widely held to be the least good. I’d suggest jump into the Night Watch set (Guards Guards etc) or the Granny Weatherwax set (Wyrd Sisters etc) - they’re widely held to be good starting points
(Edit: I appear to be fond of the phrase “widely held” today…)
