I made this catch-all tray for a friend’s housewarming but I wasn’t happy with the natural vegtan color so I propped it up in a sunny window for three days. My needle holder from the same hide is there to show the contrast of how much the color changed and to remind everyone to wear sunscreen 😎

Wow!
I’m just a rando popping in from Local, so I can’t really give any technical feedback. But from a total layman: That looks great!

Always knew that the sun would darken natural vegtan but never realized it could be that fast! Might have to rethink how I store my leather now.

Does this process dry it out at all or cause it to stiffen?
I’m new to leatherworking and am considering trying this out with some adjustable straps for a costume piece I’m working on. This looks great and seems to speed up the natural look without dyes.
