binboupan ( @binboupan@lemmy.kagura.eu ) 10•2 years agoFedora 40 seems more interesting to me (Dropping X11, Wayland-only Plasma, DNF5)

binboupan ( @binboupan@lemmy.kagura.eu ) 9•2 years agoNot in 39, but could be in 40.
flamingos-cant ( @flamingos@feddit.uk ) English9•2 years agoI’m glad they decided to not ship beta-quality software to users, even if it makes for an unexciting release. I like Fedora because it’s (mostly) stable.
nikodunk ( @nikodunk@lemmy.ml ) 1•2 years agoIdk Gnome 45 is a pretty nice visual overhaul on the “exciting” front too!

Doesn’t seem like there is much in the update. Am I missing something?

theshatterstone54 ( @theshatterstone54@feddit.uk ) 3•2 years agoThe main thing is DNF5 which should speed up DNF significantly
Vincent ( @Vincent@kbin.social ) 6•2 years agoFrom the post:
In some ways, this release might seem notable largely for what isn’t here. We’d planned to update the DNF package manager to a new, speedier version. We also hoped to showcase a long-awaited refresh to the user interface for Anaconda, our installation program. However, we decided these things just weren’t ready in time.
