The killing of Nahel M, 17, has sparked riots in cities across France as well as the town of Nanterre to the west of Paris where he grew up.

  • Sounds like the exact same crap the police pull here in the US against minorities. They shot that kid for no reason and now they’re trying to drag his reputation through the mud by saying he had a record, but he only had a record because he was a minority struggling to make ends meet by driving.

I honestly don’t understand why anyone “backs the blue” here in the US. I grew up as poor, white trash and got my balls broken by police just as much as anyone else yet my same poor, white trash fam has a hard on for police. It’s so fricken weird. I won’t feel comfortable with police until they stop carrying guns or at least have them locked in their truck and require authorization or something.

  • Nahel had been in trouble before and was known to police, but family lawyers stressed he had no criminal record.

I find it “interesting” that this is allowed to be mentioned for a juvenile, even if no court has found him guilty. “In trouble with the police” is an extremely subjective statement.

This isn’t the first we hear about France’s violent policing culture, and I’m betting it won’t be the last.
