FIash Mob #5678 ( @FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org ) English4•2 years agoAccording to my doctor it also helps manage depression.
chaoticPuppies ( @chaoticPuppies@beehaw.org ) English4•2 years agoI think a lot of depression symptoms are literally caused by constantly living indoors and not walking every day. We eat crap and live under unmanageable amounts of constant stress.
I have been taking supplemental vitamin D for about a year and a half. It was prescribed because my levels were so low. I made a bunch of other quality-of-life improvements too, but I think getting enough vit D helped me to keep at it.
FIash Mob #5678 ( @FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoI never used to but my doctor recommended it a few years ago, and yeah, definitely helps.
coolin ( @coolin@beehaw.org ) English1•2 years agoThis study is interesting because Vitamin D has largely been shown not to have any impact in many other factors when it has been tested in randomized double blind trials with placebo control. e.g. Vitamin D is (largely) a placebo. This study actually shows in one of these trials that Vitamin D is effective over a placebo for AFib. I’d be interested to learn more about the mechanism that allows Vitamin D to help and if this study can be reproduced.
Here is a good segment from MedLifeCrisis about Vitamin D in general
