While I only use browsers for enagement with all the fediverse applications I’ve used (5+) I wouldnt consider it the only true client.

Microsoft being Microsoft, in case you thought they might use the engine switch to generate goodwill, or dig in to chromes user base.

Adding cloak layers to digital projects
Glaze is a tool to help artists to prevent their artistic styles from being learned and mimicked by new AI-art models such as MidJourney, Stable Diffusion and their variants.

Post processing wizardry should happen after the shot, as a manual action/enhancement not representational of the shot.

Fond memories of the original. Happy to see it might be finally out there.

  • There was even talk that it could turn out to be more expensive than the console itself!*

Yikes.

Not surprising since the record stores are mostly vinyl with a small portion left for cds (and dvds) a complete turnaround. The prices for some albums here can quite pricey on vinyl. Happy to see it taking off though, there is something quite ritualistic with the process of playing a record.

Also love the two sided nature that was kind of lost with a single cd.

Jounalist Finder
In Alpha. Great to see some niche ancillary services being developed with the potential to become useful for other communities, or a precursor to others. Hopefully will expand beyond the Mastodon = Fediverse approach over time.

Something like you need to connect it via the home network once in a defined period.

Not sad to hear this. Checkout penpot as a possible replacement.

Posting this as I ended up listening to some pavement today, finding out that they've reformed for a tour and are currently down my way right at this moment [!] Nice to think about going to the gig, but not too interested - they're not recording anything new, which makes it a nostagia tour. Good to have seen them live back in the day though. They have music on bandcamp but not this one which is what comes to mind.

That looked like a great festival line up all round.

Have never really engaged with Technical… The title track of Never Say Die is pretty catchy. Lots of love for Sabotage though.

Doom originally supported multimonitor gameplay through the most overkill method possible by using a separate computer for each monitor. Even if you have the hardware, it's a lot of work to set up, but I've always wanted to give it a shot. So today I finally did!

This is brilliant, has been my go to a couple of times already. I have renamed my classic albums community to use the word music in the name to help discovery :D

The Atomic Bitchwax always sound like they're having a lot of fun on their albums and it's great if you're feeling in the mood for something simple and upbeat.

As a metroid prime fanboy happy that players can now play an updated version on Nintendo hardware. The GC version is getting a little fuzzy.

Good overview I enjoyed that.

Amazing they were able to restore the xcom rep with the last couple of releases. I thought it would never happen.

The first two xcoms are stone cold classics that still hold up today. Chaos (8bit) is a lot of fun. Rebelstar raiders II was great at the time.

That was quick. Square Enid had only just sold it recently. All comes back to making tv content / prime I guess.

New to me too, not that I have an xbox, but sounds like another avenue for peeps to get to play Metroid Prime :D

Looking forward to this as I loved the first one (others around me not so much)

Yeah hope everyone gets to relax for a little bit!

Yes although not fussed on misskey inspired customisations. Active development and performance improvements sound good but perhaps just a short dev cycle to push their prioritised improvements.

Self run pleroma. Looking to test friendica but the host didn’t have the right setup. Mastodon social account for testing. Account on bookwyrn, account on pixelfed.social.

Aah ok. That’s the interesting thing about blocks, I can’t see yogthos post from sopuli (hence the double up) and it’s not something set on my account.

It would be good to get some indication of what convos you could be missing out on.

Anything that can work towards breaking the strangehold and pushes towards open data I can get behind.

What a waste of talent.

I have never been able to kill stupid things before they cause damage, or set a direction and have a team actually stick to it,"

From a related Ars Technica article

…Back in late 2021, Carmack also had some words of warning as Facebook changed its named to Meta and pivoted fully behind the amorphous idea of the metaverse. Carmack said we should be wary of “architecture astronauts” who do a lot of high-level hand-waving instead of building viable products that customers find useful.

Happy with full timeline, I’ve followed people for a reason. Not interested in others making decisions for me cough fb. What I would like is a way to rank prioritise people and increase decrease feed volume based on priority that I choose. Also set / mute by topic.

The idea of a trending digest, posted elsewhere is also a good one. Opt in approaches.

Did not know that cheers.

Breaking into the US would be a tall order for any sport, would have been interesting to see how a branded version of league would have gone. Mix in a bit of MMA attitude.

Re the game If a team has to expend all their energy in a semi odds are they wont have much in the tank for the final. Against Australia even worse, should be proud though. Samoan flags have been out in force until recently!

Awesome - thanks for all the feedback. Looks like I have a bit of testing ahead of me.

Best Activitypub software to hang out with friends?
Mastodon/Pleroma looks to be for broadcast, what would be the best options for sharing content with friends/groups - I'm assuming without knowing better Diaspora or Frendica?

Excellent will have to test it out at some point when implemented (personally wasnt a fan of the old k9 ui)

Bluesky surely has to be the front runner for the better twitter even if it is only an underlying protocol. I don’t think Mastodon will ever be the front runner in that the devs don’t seem to want to imitate the hooks that allowed twitter to become so big in the first place (not a bad thing)

Mastodon feels like an interim step to something else. That you feel like something newer could develop, but you could still connect with current activitypubapps - is refreshing.

Up until google builds something to suck the life out of it but they might be busy with ai-infested search indexing.

I always get awaiting approval from pleroma ( Mastodon works like a charm on evrything other than sopuli) not sure if I’ve missed something.

The Akkoma dev gave an indication hopefully it works out.

As many of you will be aware, back in 01/2022, there was something of a schism in the smallish group of Pleroma developers with no single cause in my eyes - it was the culmination of years of mounting tensions between two competing interest groups.

Pleromadrama
Soapbox imo has to be one of the nicest front-ends for pleroma/mastodon style activitypub platforms, but it was intimated there were some reputational issues with it. Not up to speed I did a small amount of digging which led to plermoadrama. The creator/maintainer holds [certain viewpoints](https://blog.alexgleason.me/gab-block/) that are at odds with others in the community, to the point he recently declared Pleroma [to be dead](https://blog.alexgleason.me/pleroma-is-dead/) rebranding his pleroma-be approach as rebased. In addition - one of the contributing developers created a fork called [Akkoma](https://akkoma.social/) based off a [schism in the community](https://coffee-and-dreams.uk/development/2022/06/24/akkoma.html), where they declared their (lack of) [faith that pleroma dev will ever recover.](https://coffee-and-dreams.uk/development/2022/06/24/akkoma.html) Pleroma are currently [working towards a 2.5 update.](https://pleroma.social/announcements/2022/10/25/small-updates-and-donations/)

Great to see some detailed how-tos for something other than mastodon. Though in this case theyre using Rebased as the backend which is a fork of Pleroma.

My assumption is people won’t engage with a large dump of data. So when I posted about a site with good content I posted one link to the site and then posted one article as a taster and I thought that was a good approach.

CSS Drawings

Aah you’re going to make me test out a frendica account now :D I’ve only seen how it works from mastodon, which is limited but usable…

Have never got it working from my pleroma instance, but that just may be my lack of sysadmin skills.

Something like that could be useful for organisation with a large amount of data. Sidebar would be useful. Any way to group communities to drive discovery.

A cars specific instance would be my go to option in this scenario though.

Paid apps not foss, but these have been my go to apps since kissing Adobe goodbye. Currently discounted. I've used the V1 apps for years without needing to pay for updates. Theres a universal bundle which includes ipadOS, mac, win versions. Also see [krita](https://mastodon.art/@krita) and [inkscape](https://mastodon.art/@inkscape) for FOSS alteratives.

Via [masto/fb](https://mastodon.social/@dosnostalgic/109299161809976392) A new engine, called Freescape was merged to master. This is an engine for the earliest 3d-based games, which was later turned into the "3D Construction Kit". The first game from this family, Driller, is supported for DOS, Amiga and Atari ST versions. C64, Amstrad and ZX Spectrum support is in the plans. The engine is pretty small, which is of course, understandable for the machines of that era. Currently, it is just 5,500 lines of code but will definitely grow. However, being even such small, the engine author, Gustavo Grieco aka gu3 aka neuromancer, already added a high-res OpenGL rendering. What about Driller in 3840x2160?
