In a video addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia’s General Prosecutor’s Office and the Investigative Committee, seven men in military uniforms called on authorities to stop sending waste to a landfill in the town of Poltavskaya, located in the Krasnodar region.

"In almost every family someone has gotten cancer,” a soldier says in the video, adding: “If [the Russian authorities] fail to tackle this problem, we will have no choice but to return [home] and join the ranks of those who aim to close this landfill, those who dream of a healthy future for their children.”

  • You are talking about people who have been consuming agitprop their whole life about why they should do this kind of thing for their country, and there’s a good chance they were conscripted against their will, where the choice was go to war or die in a gulag. In the same way I wouldn’t blame every American that went to Vietnam for the pointlessness and atrocities of that war either. (though I may be biased on that, my grandfather was drafted and was a cartographer during the war)
