As in, AGB’s hands-off moderation, “use the upvote and downvote system to curate content, don’t bother the mods” principle. I don’t like the extreme censorship in the main LGBT subreddits but AGB became extremely low quality when banned sub refugees arrived and the mods continued to use this approach. I’m assuming the admin here is going to promote this instance and make this community active at some point.

  • Lemmy as a social network is quite a small community. I expect most of the current users to be quite proficient at using a link aggregator such as Lemmy. Unless all you can see is the exact same questions over and over, I’d stick with downvoting.

    • Now that you mention it, the most cancerous posters on r/AGB almost always have post histories on porn subs only, so by not having porn on the instance, these users will exclude themselves. Problem solved!

Though I wonder how many other gay and bi men will choose to migrate to Lemmy. I rarely see gay guys who are interested in tech and privacy so the odds are that they will just keep using Reddit no matter how bad it gets. So it’s likely that this community won’t become active enough to attract trolls and spammers.
