I do think that Ten Hag’s positive reinforcement of DeGea in recent months was mainly to keep his confidence up for the run in, if he really wanted to keep him, we would have signed off on it wouldn’t we? Or maybe I don’t understand multimillion pound contracts. Which is likely.

I think since it’s a significant pay cut (reportedly) and no guarantees of being number 1 the negotiations are dragging on.
I think I remember even for his last deal when he pushed for such a high salary the negotiations went on for a while if I remember right.
