My wife discovered somebody nearby selling a few small rhizomes of this plant just a few months ago.

A few months after she buried them, slowly more and more of the gorgeous purple leaves came up. The leaves even go to sleep at night and fold down, it’s adorable.

Soon, the flowers followed, the whole plant was covered in flowers recently and they still keep coming. Even the flowers go to sleep, just the most cute and beautiful plant ever, it brings us a lot of joy. :)

I can relate with that feeling, though I don’t have a horticulture qualification 😅

For many months I have been fighting for the survival of my prayer plant, but it seemed determined to die. I have no idea what I was doing wrong…

I wish you good luck with future plants, and I can recommend this Oxalis, it even tells you when to water because it starts drooping or closing up 😁

      • 👍 Thank you! That sounds like the perfect plant for me. Visual cues are helpful lol.

I do much better outside. My plants seem to almost look after themselves outside with minimal effort. However, inside the house it’s deadsville. 😂 Even cactii. I’m in England and the area I live in tends to have dry air at some times of the year. I think that might be part of it even if I’m watering correctly. 😊

          • That sounds really nice. This year we tried something new. There was thing called No Mow May to encourage wildlife and the pollinators. We left a big circle unmowed in our garden and it was really successful. We’ve since tidied it up but we’re thinking of leaving it like it is as long as we can.

            • Wow, that’s amazing! Definitely looks and sounds worth leaving! You’ll have a little patch of forest there in no time! :P

Encouraging insects and animals are a big reason for our permaculture dreams, a forest-y garden can harbour a lot of life 😊

Thank you! Definitely! There’s so many little creatures in the small area we left unmowed. Some really cute bumblebees. Funnily enough our dog stays our of there which is good for not disturbing the wildlife.

I would love to be able to have a bigger space to create something substantial. But I guess every little bit helps.👍
