• PayPal is banning fascists and science deniers. It’s a bad look and they don’t want your business. Seems pretty straightforward to me, no matter how much the “just asking questions” crowd wants to shocked Pikachu face.

      • I think @4am@lemmy.world’s point is Paypal discriminates against the unpopular side, which is independent of political leanings.

The author of the article is clearly trapped in a right wing conservative bubble. He’s disadvantaged by his own bias & fixated on far right customers getting harsh treatment, which makes him blind to the fact that Paypal has also frozen accounts of left-wing journalists & Iraq war resisters as well as blocked an account intended to raise money for the distribution of Boris Nemtsov’s report “Putin. War”, which details Russia’s intervention in Ukraine.

Rupa Subramanya’s bias has him calling Musk a “champion of free speech” which shows that the right wing propaganda worked well enough on him to be blinded to Musk’s treatment of left wing journalists on Twitter. Bizarre as well how he tries to pin Dan Schulman as “woke”, while readily admitting his ties to American Express and AT&T. Amex is still an #ALEC member.

It’s a shame because I track a lot of dirt on Paypal but Subramanya’s credibility has proven too low for his article to make the cut. I can probably salvage some of his citations and use those directly though.
