I’m a bit more sad that there is less passive exercise for discourse though. Perhaps our generation(s) had the greatest opportunity for learning discourse and debate and that will be lost as we progress.

Putting a friendly face on information can improve retention substantially. I don’t see reading being a universally better way to learn.
