Battle Beyond the Stars is a 1980 American space opera film produced by Roger Corman, directed by Jimmy T. Murakami, and starring Richard Thomas, Robert Vaughn, George Peppard, John Saxon, Sybil Danning and Darlanne Fluegel. Intended as a futuristic “Magnificent Seven (itself a western version of Seven Samurai) in outer space”, the screenplay was written by John Sayles with the score by James Horner and special effects designed by filmmaker James Cameron.
My oldest son and I watched this right after Rebel Moon, it was a spectacular nostalgia trip for me and a hilarious into to 80s schlock Sci fi, complete with rhe buxom heroine that apparently was deeply cut during the TV airing because I really don’t remember super cleavage saving the day.
We both fell out laughing when her “spacesuit” made its appearance.
Awesome, yeah, there’s a lot of 80s sci fi cheese to love with this one.
