As governments impose limits on plastic food packaging, climate-friendlier alternatives are in the works. Here are some that might be coming to a grocery store near you.
My grocery just has bare produce in bins. They offer disposable plastic bags, but they are not required. I take 2 large totes. I put all my produce in one while shopping. When I to to check out, I put the full bag on the conveyor belt in front of my other groceries and ask them to scan/weigh the produce and put it in the other bag. Then my non-produce groceries go in the other bag.
