Linus tours the Framework Laptop factory

  • Yes, if was very interesting. I would have assumed that they would do board level tests and not test with RAM, drive, and radios installed. But it’s really great that they test all of that even if you’re not buying those components as part of the DYI package.

Now I’m wondering if they use the actual components you buy or just their test components for the testing? Also, how are they testing just the main board orders?

The transparency from frame.work is so refreshing!

    • Since you can order the DIY without any parts (I did), I’d guess they have some standard test parts that they cycle through each batch. Or something like that. That’s an interesting question with the mainboard…

      • Yeah, they’ve done a good job of QC either way.

DYI friends! I also got the DYI edition, first Gen batch 2. I ordered it out of principle, before they had actual product out there. I did not really expect such a polished product. I ended up selling my few months old Dell xps 13 2-in-1 and the framework has been my daily driver for two years. Looking forward to the Ryzen main board showing up later this year!
