Why are so many people ok with a world where you have no say in what your employer does, and they can do whatever they want to suit their bottom line?

Though I wonder how much of this is actually corpophilia and how much is people hiding behind it because they don’t want to say “I’m glad these people I disagree with got fired”.

Here are some threads to show what I’m talking about:

r/technology

r/conservative (though this one feels like cheating)

r/news

r/bayarea

r/google

hacker news

washington post comments

etc…

Why are so many people ok with a world where you have no say in what your employer does, and they can do whatever they want to suit their bottom line?

Because realistically there will always be someone who disagrees with what a company decides to do, no matter what. And before you say “but X cause is different, it’s important!” who is the arbiter of what’s important? Who gets to decide what issues are actually important enough to get the attention of the company?

If you start to unravel the actual logistics of what you’re talking about you’ll see why what you’re talking about is unrealistic.

Even in an organization where the workers own the business and everyone votes, what happens when the minority doesn’t like the decision of the majority? They have a sit in at the executive offices until everyone votes the way they like? The world just doesn’t work like that.
