Self-hosting your email is not recommended today because it already HAS suffered EEE, and unless you’re big enough to not ignore (an ISP, a company with thousands of users, etc.) it’ll be a miserable time, trying to set up your server for you and your family will be an exercise in frustration, and even those companies suffer a lot from the big servers. And nothing short of a full antitrust campaign by a nation (which should have happened years ago) will undo this.
