• I can understand the hate towards the rich. But saying that the poor is given freebies is a bit condescending. Try living their life - you’ll certainly appreciate the privileges of being middle class. The poor are also not poor because they’re lazy or they live on freebies. Being poor is a vicious cycle. They don’t have the resources to seek out opportunities, in turn denying them resources. That’s why social benefit programs exist - to break that cycle.

    • I understand that. Here the ruling party is giving free food to 810 million people. That’s the majority of the population.

That’s not enough. They need free healthcare and education, electricity, water, housing.

Everything that helps them be uplifted to middle. At least most of them.

I am looking at this from an electoral perspective.

We have a majority of poor people and most of them vote. While most of the middle class don’t vote.

Which means these poor people are the real kingmakers in India

These people are happy to give away their vote just for food. They deserve more.

But they won’t know it until they are educated

And they are not getting educated until they ask for free quality education.

      It’s a catch 22.

It’s hopeless to see the majority of the votebank so desperate. A healthy democracy cannot function like that.

Someone has to convince poor people to ask for the right services to uplift them to the middle class.
