PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources that WWE’s Ricochet has given notice that he intends to exit the company when his current contract expires this summer. We are told that Ricochet is expected to be written out of WWE storylines very soon in advance of the contract expiration. Ricochet is currently part of WWE’s Raw brand.

One source we spoke with said they were giving Ricochet “all the credit in the world for betting on himself.” One would think he’ll quickly be a hot commodity as a free agent.

I’m surprised WWE let so many contracts come down to the wire like this, but I am happy to see some like Becky and Ricochet at least attempting to see what’s happening outside the WWE bubble. If he wants to bet on himself, I’m all for it, Mustafa Ali is doing good for himself outside of the WWE system.

EDIT: I don’t think I need to tell most of you here, but for anybody who hasn’t seen his work in Lucha Underground as Prince Puma, you are missing out. If that show is out there somewhere, it’s good soap opera wrestling and they put on a heck of a show while they were on the air.

I have to think this is TKO SOP at this point, given they usually dealt with things in a more timely manner before TKO bought em.

That being said, on to the topic at hand: Fucking good. He’s been there a good 6 years, he got his bag, but the last time Ricochet did anything in WWE that was memorable (to me at least) was when he was flipping out of the ring to confront fucking Velveteen Dream.

Doesn’t matter to me much where he goes, he’ll be fantastic anywhere, but WWE isn’t doing anything with him of value at this point.

Also taking bets, who thinks the WWE Speed thing was insulting enough that it was the tipping point in his decision??

It does seem to be the TKO way at this point, I think it’s a crazy thing considering so many signed new contracts before and now at least 2, possibly 3 with Natalya have chosen to see what else is out there under this new system, almost like letting them out is good for the workers, but it could be bad for WWE.

I think the Speed title was their incentive to stay, you get to be the inaugural champ of this thing we’re doing for a billion dollars, we’re going to pump you up on social… what, yeah you can be on RAW, 50-50 booking though… I think WWE’s under utilization of workers, and this possibly being the first time his contract is up with AEW around probably played more into it.
