Been trying to get back into animation as it used to be a huge passion of mine. Went to see The Wild Robot and thought it was visually gorgeous, and I appreciated that it kept a consistent sentimental tone. Lately I feel like a lot of movies have this snarky self-deprecating humor and don’t try to be sincere until the end of the second act, and it’s nice to see a break from that.
Also it’s just a 15-minute series made to sell a video game, so there’s no real resolution, but I enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog: Dark Beginnings. I haven’t seen Shadow written with any sentimentality in a while, and the fight scenes were fun to watch. Add some sweet and funny interactions with Rouge and my inner 12-year-old is happy.
