I’m currently on Win11 but I’m getting that familiar Linux itch and want to dual boot a while again. I tend to gravitate towards Ubuntu simply because it’s so big and well supported by most things.
I’ve run Arch in the past but I’ve gotten too old and lazy for that if I’d be completely honest. I have played with manjaro and endeavour though… and opensuse tumbleweed, rolling is kind of nice.
Not sure what I’d try out first this time so I figured I’d get some inspiration from you guys!
NixOS, not going to lie to you and say it’s always easy to get games running on it though. Sometimes it’s a complete pain in the ass.
Have you tried using a windows VM? If I can figure that out I’m so ready to leave windows completely
I haven’t had particularly good luck with a Windows VM. Wine and similar frameworks tend to work better. There’s no one size fits all solution though.
Me neither unfortunately but hopefully one day I’ll get it working
You mean GPU passthrough? https://github.com/BigAnteater/KVM-GPU-Passthrough
Yes indeed
Love NixOS, running it on my prime gaming rig currently playing cyberpunk and system shock with no issues. The hard part is learning the NixOS way of package management. After that just use Steam and Heroic Games Launcher and you should be okay.
Lutris was madness though, so I stopped using that.
Running a full AMD system.
Before that I used POP os, it’s great for plug and play gaming. However I do development too and that’s why I switched.
