Kagi is a paid search engine. Instead of getting ads, you just pay for the privilege of using it.
I’ve been using it for a while and overall I think for most searches it’s better than Google. It isn’t necessarily that the content is always better (sometimes it isn’t) but the signal is far easier to find through the noise.
What about non-developer searches? What do you use if you want to know showtimes for a movie, for example?
Non-developer searches seem to work Ok. I honestly havent tried that much. It seems like most the time I do engage with Phind its usually code related. Its become a pretty good utility for debugging.
Strip out any sensitive bits, paste it over asking the questions and or presenting the error while running usually results in figuring out my mistakes (or at least gets me closer).
Sounds a bit like GitHub Copilot.
I’ve had similar luck with Raycast AI too. It will do joins nicely.
