More than 6,000 United Methodist congregations have now received permission to leave the denomination amid a schism over theology and the role of LGBTQ people.
The United Methodist Church wants to allow LGBT people to be members, the people splitting off don’t. It is weirdly worded but there’s a new conservative sect called the Global Methodist Church that’s more anti gay and I would guess most of the churches splitting off are going to join that sect.
Why don’t the people splitting off want that? Where did their position come from and why do they maintain it? It’s certainly not because god or something. ~Strawberry
