This urge had been with me all my life. Periodically I dream about walking through empty streets with no people at all like in the beginning of “28 days later”.
It always feels a bit somber, like I imagine a missing limb would ache to remind that it used to be there, but calm and comforting at the same time.
I can walk wherever I want, look anywhere I want, without consciously thinking about the direction of my gaze, unafraid to glare and stim and dance and yell and sing, right in the middle of the street. Finally, the inner voice policing my being for not being “normal enough” goes quiet.
As soon as the feeling of liberation barely touches my soul, I wake up.
