Oct. 31 (UPI) – A federal judge on Friday allowed a lawsuit against McDonald’s to move forward, alleging the fast food chain misleads customers into believing its popular McRib sandwich contains actual pork rib meat.

McDonald’s had asked the court to dismiss a lawsuit in Chicago alleging consumer deception, fraud and unjust enrichment.

But U.S. District Judge April Perry ruled the lawsuit, filed by four customers in December 2025, could move forward, FOX Business reported.

First sold in 1981, the McRib features a boneless pork patty molded to resemble ribs. It is covered in barbecue sauce and served with onions and pickles.

The plaintiffs accuse McDonald’s of using the sandwich’s name and appearance to suggest that it contains rib meat, despite allegedly using cheaper portions of pork.

The lawsuit claims the McRib is made from ground pork products, including shoulder, heart, tripe and stomach, rather than meat taken from the ribs, according to KTLA.

Yeah he was so used to soda that water didn’t give him the same stimulation he expected. He was hoping to use fruit juice to ween himself off the stimulation to eventually switch to water.

Buffalo wings come from Buffalo NY. I think the standard should be if consumers believed something incorrect. I know several people that thought Country Croc was butter. Compare that to “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” and nobody thinks that’s butter. Several “ice cream” bars in the freezer isle actually don’t contain ice cream. I bet the average person perusing the freezer isle wouldn’t know that since the packaging and marketing are all meant to convince you that it does contain ice cream. Many services will advertise a price and then include a bunch of fees people don’t expect. In general, I don’t like how marketing is so deceptive. It breeds a culture of lying and distrust where the worst behaviors are rewarded and honesty is punished.
