Are the Oathkeepers still a viable organization now that the leader has been convicted?
Sort of. Their sub-chapters have been splintering into their own units. The one highlighted by this article is from Arizona and now uses a seemingly benign name. They still literally fly the Oath Keepers flag despite claiming to no longer be associated with them.
they’re also not the only group like this out there, is the other part. for the past few years it’s become increasingly common for similar organized (and unorganized) militia-type groups to do this stuff. it was infamously a point of hysteria during Oregon’s 2020 wildfires that antifa were setting wildfires, for example, and many right-wing and far-right cranks teamed up to block roads and “protect their property” accordingly. i know similarly ideological groups have been observed giving aid during and after California’s wildfires too
