update: we have a pretty good idea of what we’ll add to start, probably tomorrow. i’m unpinning this post and beginning to reply to posts in here with specifics. thank you for your suggestions to this point

no promises on any specific additions from me or the other mods, but now is a good time to gauge this.[1] for reference, our current 18 non-support communities are:[2]

try to be a little broad in your suggestions–this is still a site of just 1,000 people, so it simply can’t be as granular as reddit–but it’s fine if your suggestion is a specific subset of an already existing community or overlaps with one. Space and FOSS are some obvious examples of already existing overlap, and those communities work fine.

    OK, going by the subreddits i frequent the most and that i don’t see (or missed like a blind bat) checking on browse.feddit.de :

    • Everything wargaming-adyacent: From /r/wargaming, to subreddits about specific games like Infinity, 40K, Malifaux and others, to the crafting ones like minipainting and terrainbuilding, to even memes about all this
    • Naturism: On Reddit there’s two main ones, one dedicated to it on USA and another international, various minor ones, and again one dedicated to memes about it
    • Is there an equivalent to /r/sysadmin?
    • Subs for various minor geeky interests: Anime, cyberpunk, subs for specific shows, games, comics or movies, zombies, etc.
    • Communities for major geographic regions/countries/cities maybe?
    • Are you interested in opening the Pandora’s Box that is NSFW? I suspect Reddit intends to purge them from the site sooner or later despite bringing in A LOT of traffic, so maybe they’d set up shop on Fedi too?
