Whenever I try to comment on random threads, it pops up with this and then the whole page freezes, making me have to retype the beehaw URL to get back to the frontpage. Back doesn’t do anything, nor clicking anything on the page when this occurs.

Ran into this as well when I joined. IIRC I fixed it by specifying the comment’s language. Not sure why it behaves like that though. And sometimes it seems to change back to “undetermined” apparently.
