On Lemmy instances, are the "users / day" sections meant to be how many users are active in that time frame, or is it how many signups there are? It also gets a little confusing when it says stuff like 1.3k users online, and then 95 users on another section as if it's the total.
I'm thinking this might be a combination of both local instance statistics and the combined stats of all the instances that it's federating with, but I'm not sure.
Edit: This is on the main instance page of an instance, it changes per community you have open but I'm mainly curious about the main page stats

Users online shows the number of open websocket connections to the server (or particular community). So if I’d open 5 tabs it would show 5 additional users.
For the others I don’t know. I’d suspect that is the number of unique people posting or commenting?
The websocket counting is interesting. I was a little confused about how the active user count could be higher than the users in the last day. So it seems like that’s the weird one of the bunch.
