The war between the amphibian-like Arweli, and the robot faction known as the Groupthink is considered by most historians to have lasted for four years. The war which was originally a small incursion of Groupthink forces into Arweli outlying territory spiraled and became a full scale total war that began spilling onto outlying human colonies. The colonies were caught in the middle of the war, and while Union colonists were mostly evacuated back to the safe core of human territory, independent colonies were devastated.
The war came to an end with the destruction of Groupthink, as a virus was uploaded in it’s Nodespheres, destroying them and in the process the highspeed shared connection held by all robots within the collective. Many robots were killed in the confusion, but many survived. After the war, some ended up as slave labor of both humans and Arweli, while some retreated out of human space, and a few ended up making their way doing independent war as salvage prospectors or mercenaries. While many places would outright not welcome a robot, some human colonies had sided with them temporarily during the war as the only way to survive, and in many places humans held Arweli and robots in the same low but necessary regard when it came to rounding out a work force.
