Hi guys! The other day I think saw mentioned in the passing a sort of youtube frontend player for linux, I think. But I didn’t see that mention again, and couldn’t get back to it. Kinda like a desktop app that allows to see videos, subscriptions etc…does such a thing exist? Or did I just dream it?
Vittelius ( @Vittelius@feddit.de ) 18•2 years agoYou are probably thinking of freetube
Mane25 ( @Mane25@feddit.uk ) 2•2 years agoFreetube is great, it’s the only way I watch YouTube now.
nlm ( @nlm@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoThis looks promising! Might need to install it!
tubbadu ( @tubbadu@lemmy.kde.social ) 4•2 years agoThere are plasmatube and audiotube in the KDE suite
kikuchiyo ( @kikuchiyo@lemmy.ml ) 3•2 years agoThe new frontend is called LightTube. There is a link to one of the instance: https://tube.kuylar.dev/. It’s that frontend that was mention the other day :)

StrangeAstronomer ( @StrangeAstronomer@lemmy.ml ) 2•2 years agoI generally use mpv+yt-dlp from the CLI (once I have a URL). Often I use youtube-tldr (google it) to get a summary of a page - maybe you have noticed /s that youtube videos often take 10-15 minutess to get across one simple point!!
