TheAlbatross ( @TheAlbatross@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 11•7 months agoThat’s cool
lexihexi ( @lexihexi@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 9•7 months agoI wouldn’t have thought that discord would apply such good policies. Their target groups include transphobes and there will be a lot of moderating to do. It’s a really big step to make online gaming a safer space for everyone. 😊
therealjcdenton ( @therealjcdenton@lemmy.zip ) English5•7 months agoThat’s gonna be impossible to enforce lol what a joke of a platform
wgbirne ( @wgbirne@feddit.de ) 7•7 months agoSo you want them to just allow it since they can’t enforce it? How would that be better?
therealjcdenton ( @therealjcdenton@lemmy.zip ) English2•7 months agoBecause it’s another thing discord mods can use to abuse their power. And common courtesy shouldn’t be a rule, it should be natural
Mnglw ( @mnglw@beehaw.org ) 3•7 months agoand that’s the problem, people clearly are not extending common courtesy to trans people
so should we just let it go and let deadnaming and misgenderinh happen rather than actually making it part of the rules because its clearly neccesary?
therealjcdenton ( @therealjcdenton@lemmy.zip ) English1•7 months agoYes we should, if you silence people they won’t change their opinion you’ll just make them angrier
Mnglw ( @mnglw@beehaw.org ) 1•7 months agoaha so I guess basic rights and common courtesy and all that don’t matter when it comes to trans people, got it
therealjcdenton ( @therealjcdenton@lemmy.zip ) English1•7 months agoIdk how you drew that conclusion, the point is common courtesy shouldn’t be a rule
Mnglw ( @mnglw@beehaw.org ) 1•7 months agoIts clearly not common courtesy when it doesn’t happen when it comes to trans people. They are not given this supposed “common courtesy” That means trans folks are seen as sub-human and I do think we should make a rule of not othering/dehumanizing a group of people in such a way
