ALostInquirer ( @ALostInquirer@lemm.ee ) English5•1 year ago…Given the presence of Stonehenge, what kept the ancient peoples of Great Britain from making their own pyramids anyway? I’m guessing it’s to do with different sociocultural arrangements, but was there any absence of resources that may have also contributed?
jasondj ( @jasondj@ttrpg.network ) English7•1 year agoLots of people made pyramids. There are indigenous pyramids in New England.
Turns out if you want to stack bricks high, the easiest way to do it is to make triangles.
ALostInquirer ( @ALostInquirer@lemm.ee ) English2•1 year agoI’m aware of the trend, which is why I was asking about Great Britain in particular and whether they had also done so. Courtesy of this reply I was made aware that there are at least some there, albeit those highlighted were neither as old nor so large.
Still fun to know about though!

urda ( @urda@lebowski.social ) English2•1 year agoI could go for a pyramid.
outer_spec ( @outer_spec@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) English1•1 year agoI mean, people did steal the fancy bricks that were on the outside of the pyramids, so it’s not a stretch to imagine they’d want to steal the rest
