rhythmisaprancer ( @rhythmisaprancer@kbin.social ) 3•6 months agoHas anyone tried LocalSend? Not android specific, not sure about Windows tho
mayooooo ( @MayonnaiseArch@beehaw.org ) English1•6 months agoLocal send is better than everything else, including nearby share (both the windows version and the android one). And it’s fastest by far.
notenoughbutter ( @notenoughbutter@lemmy.ml ) English2•6 months agoI’ve found photon to be the fastest for me
but I use warpinator as it has additional security considerations and automatic file send and receive (without confirmation)
mayooooo ( @MayonnaiseArch@beehaw.org ) English1•6 months agoThanks for the links, I have to check this out
Laxman Dhotre ( @laxmanndhotre@mastodon.social ) 1•6 months ago@MayonnaiseArch @rhythmisaprancer just tried it against quick share, but it took a while compared to quick share(same file, same wifi network) any reason why?
rhythmisaprancer ( @rhythmisaprancer@kbin.social ) 1•6 months agoMy main use case is with folks who have Apple phones. LocalSend has interoperability there. I cannot speak to Android-Android transfers with it, but have used the nearby share in the past.
Laxman Dhotre ( @laxmanndhotre@mastodon.social ) 1•6 months ago@MayonnaiseArch @rhythmisaprancer nearby share is just as fast as local share. I dont know what samsung is doing but quick share is almost double the speed
mayooooo ( @MayonnaiseArch@beehaw.org ) English2•6 months agoI’m not sure, I can’t use samsung things, but localsend maxes out my wifi, so… maybe it would be slower compared to the samsung thing if I had better wifi?
TheMadnessKing ( @TheMadnessKing@lemdro.id ) English3•7 months agoIMO if they could make the options more easily understood or let users select the way the files needs to be shared.
I have often found that Nearby would be using F* Bluetooth to send files.
