blunderworld ( @blunderworld@lemmy.ca ) English3•1 year agoI dont really feel like these are the only options, though. Why can’t you look for another job you’d enjoy more while still working at the job you hate?
Sc00ter ( @Sc00ter@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English10•1 year agoMy situation is i won’t be able to make nearly the same amount of money within 1000 miles of where I live. Granted, I wouldn’t use the word “hate” for my job, but it definitely should be better than it is.
And yes, I could move, but that would mean my wife wouldn’t be able to work until she gets licensed where ever we move and my extended family is all here. Don’t want to take my kids away from their cousins and grandparents
blunderworld ( @blunderworld@lemmy.ca ) English2•1 year agoThats a fair point!
orbituary ( @orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) English3•1 year agoThe meme’s message is not incompatible with your suggestion.
blunderworld ( @blunderworld@lemmy.ca ) English2•1 year agoWell, the message as I interpreted it is that you either have to:
a) keep working at the job you hate, or b) experience homelessness
What am I missing? Granted, I slept very badly so its entirely possible that I may have morning dumb dumb brain.
No no, you have a great point, it’s just that there are various circumstances that don’t allow many people to do what you described in an easy way.
blunderworld ( @blunderworld@lemmy.ca ) English1•1 year agoTrue enough!
dunloap ( @dunloap@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) English2•1 year agoOr work 3 days a week and learn how to live happily on a low income. It’s easy outside of major cities

That would require there to be available jobs. If there were available jobs, there wouldn’t be homeless people everywhere.
Fizz ( @Fizz@lemmy.nz ) English0•1 year agoCan’t you get another job? Here If I get fired from a job or quit I can go on the job seekers benefit which covers rent food and bills while I look for another job. I assume other countries have something similar.
What?! Where do you live?
Fizz ( @Fizz@lemmy.nz ) English2•1 year agoNew Zealand. Technically if you quit your job you are suppose to be unable to get jobseeker benefit for 13 weeks but if you go to them and say that you cant afford to live they get you to do like 1 day of bullshit courses and then sign you up.
fidodo ( @fidodo@lemm.ee ) English2•1 year agoLol, new Zealand is on the upper side of providing good benefits to workers, not all countries have that or at the same level. You’re lucky to live where you do!
