Glide ( @Glide@lemmy.ca ) 61•1 year agoA 1080TI still plays every release at medium or higher settings. /shrug
Unless you’re worried about 4k or VR, I wouldn’t upgrade anyway.

Have a 1060 for vr.actually works fine
Khrux ( @Khrux@ttrpg.network ) English2•1 year agoMy 980ti is still a toss up between amazing or mediocre performance. The big issue is that I bought it for £600 which is a lot of money to me, and new GPUs are 3 times that, or more.
RachelRodent ( @WeLoveCastingSpellz@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 19•1 year ago1080ti is still a beast
Mars ( @Mars@beehaw.org ) English13•1 year agoMy 970 seems as old as the wheel if you read this kind of threads.
I really need to upgrade my rig…
NaoPb ( @NaoPb@eviltoast.org ) English9•1 year agoThis is how I’ve always felt, running on old second hand unstable rigs. But it’s better than nothing.
voxel ( @vox@sopuli.xyz ) 9•1 year agoI’m actually considering upgrading to a 1070 (i have a 1050ti)
HoodieGyaru ( @HoodieGyaru@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 3•1 year agoI was considering upgrading to 1070ti but would probably go with the 2070super so I can use dlss (I also have a 1050ti)
eldain ( @eldain@feddit.nl ) 1•1 year agoCheck your regions rx6600(xt) pricing, both cards are much faster than a 1070.

voxel ( @vox@sopuli.xyz ) 2•1 year agooh actually, I’m so used to amd cards being ridiculously expensive (both used and new) in ukraine that i didn’t even consider them. Prices are way more fair here in poland
Child Eater ( @ChildEater@iusearchlinux.fyi ) 8•1 year ago1070 gang
Polyester6435 ( @Polyester6435@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 6•1 year ago1070 is comfy AF, been on one for so long now and I haven’t seen any reasons to switch yet
atro_city ( @atro_city@fedia.io ) 8•1 year agoDid they remake Lolo Rabbit?
SmoochyPit ( @SmoochyPit@beehaw.org ) English5•1 year agoThis is a screenshot taken from James Lee’s YouTube channel.
His animation style and subjects are wild.
TheOPtimal ( @optimal@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) ქართული7•1 year agoI remember when the 1080ti was top of the line. Good times.
peanuts4life ( @peanuts4life@beehaw.org ) English7•1 year agoStill loving my 1070!
Velonie ( @Velonie@beehaw.org ) 2•1 year agoSame, it works perfectly fine still! My only gripe is the Nvidia drivers on Linux + Wayland :/
Ultragramps ( @Ultragramps@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 5•1 year agoI’m expecting some good build opportunities in Spring 2024. Plan is to build two desktops, one AMD-heavy with the Arch-based Steam OS and another Nvidia desktop with Nobara and space for windows 12.
Storage on a self repairing raid array on a PCIx16 adapter is looking amazing, but hardware raid configurations are still preferable to software configs and I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. SoupACabra ( @SoupACabra@lemmy.wtf ) English5•1 year agoWhy is no one talking about FSR3 and frame generation here?
Franzia ( @Franzia@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 2•1 year agoIdk fam FSR doesnt even look that great to me. Upscaling is OK but meh. Im on 1080P though, yet. Theres other cool tech though like sub-surface scattering, and its nice to finally be able to let all models load in a scene.
SoupACabra ( @SoupACabra@lemmy.wtf ) English1•1 year agoI mean youtube is flooded with videos of 1080Tis and RX570s getting to 60-70 frames with frame generation

TwiddleTwaddle ( @TwiddleTwaddle@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 2•1 year agoI’m still rocking my 380
manual3204 ( @manual3204@iusearchlinux.fyi ) English5•1 year agoMy 660ti is finally showing its age…
dubyakay ( @dubyakay@lemmy.ca ) 1•1 year agoI have a 670. Beat you by three months!
In all seriousness, they perform about the same. But I can’t really play any recent titles bar Indie games.
jtk ( @jtk@lemmy.sdf.org ) English4•1 year agoI have one of these I ended up never using because I didn’t realize my power supply wouldn’t handle it. By the time I decided to build a whole new PC, I ended up having enough saved up to get an RTX 3080. Video cards were super hard to find at the time so I decided to hold on to the 1080 in case of emergency. Do graphics cards matter much in something like a dedicated Minecraft or 7 Days to Die server? If so, I might build one with it.
Won’t do you any good for regular hosting. But you can do AI stuff with it, stable diffusion and silly tavern work wonderfully on the 1080ti
GamesRevolution ( @GamesRevolution@programming.dev ) 4•1 year agoMy 1050ti is still working nicely for everything I play, but I would like some rendering speed improvements in blender so maybe I’ll upgrade in some years
